This time around, we came in third place, loosing only to the seniors, and Brandon's tetrix team. We found that rubber bands stretched around the wheels has more traction than the rubberized epoxy.

Indoor tug of war

After finishing the outdoor tug of war contest last week, we are beginning the indoor competition which will take place on the indoor tables. We believe our robot stands the chance of winning, because of our modified wheels which produces lots of traction on slippery surfaces. Other teams are starting to wrap rubber bands around there robots to get a leg over the competition.

solids work in solidworks

Today we finished the solid works model of our robot and we think it looks pretty nice.

We also had time to play with the render tools, and this is what our bot would look like in a dark room as a light source,

Today Micheal and Jasen are starting the process of applying rubber sealant to the front wheels which currently is not covered. The addition this product to all four wheels will allow the most weight (which is located on the front of the robot) to be useful at its full potential. We plan for them to dry over the weekend and come back on Monday to install.

Bend it like Beckham

This Monday Jasen and Micheal came to the realization that two of there four axles were bent and deformed due to riding on top of there robot as personal transport. The need to replace the parts will involve finding new axles and filing them to size. We hope to be ready for the competition by next week.

Grinding gears (not realy)

This week we put gears on half of our robot and used a motor to test the traction, as well as the torque. We found that our gears give the robot excellent torque and plan to continue with this setup.
